By default we take the longest measurement and cut it in half, as pictured below.
If you don't want a default hinge direction, then specify that you would like the hinge longwise as pictured below.
On occasion we come across a cover that is perfectly square but the corners are different. If it matters to you which way the hinge goes, make sure you let us know. Otherwise there is a 50% chance it will be wrong. To reduce any confusion it is probably best to sketch out a layout or diagram of your cover with indication of the hinge direction.
